Quick answer: open the email, click the three-dot More menu next to Reply, choose Print, set the destination to Save as PDF, and click Save.

  1. On a computer (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox)
  2. In the Gmail app on Android
  3. In the Gmail app on iPhone or iPad
  4. Save many Gmail emails as PDF at once

Save a Gmail email as PDF on a computer

  1. Open Gmail in your browser and open the email.
  2. Click the three-dot More icon at the top right of the message, next to the Reply arrow.
  3. Choose Print. A print preview opens in a new window.
  4. Open the Destination list and choose Save as PDF. On Windows you can also choose Microsoft Print to PDF.
  5. Click Save, pick a folder and a file name, and click Save again.

To save a whole conversation instead of one message, click the printer icon (Print all) at the top right of the conversation. All replies end up in a single PDF.

Using Safari on a Mac? The print dialog looks different: click the PDF button at the bottom left and choose Save as PDF.

Save a Gmail email as PDF on Android

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap the email.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu at the top right of the message (next to the reply arrow), then tap Print.
  3. At the top of the print screen, tap the printer name and choose Save as PDF.
  4. Tap the round PDF download button, choose a folder, and tap Save.

Save a Gmail email as PDF on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap the email.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu at the top right of the message and choose Print.
  3. In the print options, tap the Share button at the top.
  4. Choose Save to Files, pick a folder in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, and tap Save.

Menu names can differ slightly between app versions, but the path is always More › Print.

Save many Gmail emails as PDF at once

Printing works one email at a time, and Gmail has no “export as PDF” for a whole folder. If you need to archive a project, a client thread or a set of receipts, this is quicker:

  1. In Gmail on a computer, open each email and choose More › Download message. Gmail saves it as an .eml file.
  2. Drop all the .eml files into the converter below.
  3. Choose One PDF per email to get a ZIP file, or Combine into one PDF to get every email in date order in one document.

Each PDF starts with the subject, sender, recipients, date and a list of attachments, and the file names begin with the email’s date so they sort correctly. Everything happens in your browser: your emails are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does saving a Gmail message as PDF include the attachments?

No. Gmail’s print-to-PDF saves the message text and inline images only. Download attachments separately with the download icon on each file, or use our EML to PDF converter, which lists every attachment in the PDF and lets you save each one.

How do I save an entire Gmail conversation as one PDF?

Open the conversation and click the printer icon (“Print all”) at the top right, above the first message. Every message in the thread goes into the same PDF.

Can I save several Gmail emails as PDF at once?

Gmail has no bulk PDF export. The fastest way is to download each message as an .eml file (More › Download message) and drop them all into our EML to PDF converter, which can create one PDF per email or one combined PDF.

Why is the “Save as PDF” option missing?

In Chrome and Edge, open the Destination (or Printer) list in the print window and choose “Save as PDF” or “Microsoft Print to PDF”. In Safari, use the PDF button at the bottom of the print dialog. If the print window doesn’t open at all, your browser may be blocking pop-ups from mail.google.com.
